This prompted our own discussion among the Geektopia group: If we’re stuck on an island with 24 decks, which 24 we taking? It’s mostly going to be decks in the next 40, but there are some already listed that would make the cut. Here are my comments:

Overall this is a good group for the bottom. I’d probably put Jolee & Juhani last (that I waited 15 years to put them on my site tells you something) and IMO, Chirrut & Baze belong somewhere on this list too. I made some updates to Hux but I don’t know if those move him past anyone. Snoke is original enough to bump a little higher but I’m not sure that gets him to the 60s.

It’s funny that OG Yoda and Jango are bottom 12 decks but they really are, Jango might also be bottom 10. Meanwhile I’ve always said our group likes OG Luke more than others. I’d put him in the 30s or 40s and on the island with us for sure, and Jyn probably 50s. I also have some affection for Han & Leia since they’re newish and for now, I think they’re pretty fun.

It’s a tough call for me between Rebel Commando and Bespin but some of the conversation about Bespin swung me in his favor. Beckett (Woody) could probably be lower (I like Jyn better). San & Wat are a very good IMO, they move into the 40s and I wouldn’t get to Saesee & Agen until the 30s. I’ve been chatting with the GG guys and Saesee definitely makes the Island-24 set but to my surprise, Lando probably doesn’t. We love Jedi but aren’t too hot for shooters.

So personally, I would drop Freedon to the 60s or 70s because the character of Freedon Nadd is obscure enough, his ghost is really, really obscure and there’s no figure out there for it. Plus, his minor is Exar Kun who is already covered in the outstanding EU set (not my favorite deck in that set but good enough). But, Chancellor Palpatine, with trusty sidekick Mas Amedda, turned out well enough to be ranked at least this high, perhaps higher.
Then bring San & Wat probably to the top of this class. IG-88 leaves this group for the 30s group to join Saesee, both ahead of 3-4 others still to be mentioned. Also to my surprise, Tarkin probably is left off the island by the GG guys. I think I could convince them we’d need one more shooter and it might be tarkin, but then it would be over another shooter who I think is more deserving so i’d argue against him. So the fact that Tarkin and Lando are not getting much love tells you my group also doesn’t think those decks are great, because we love the characters. If it’s my own island, my set with random players, I bring the 10YA decks of Lando and Tarkin over our decks for other characters because I love the characters that much.
