Have you guys thought of uploading this to TableTop Simulator? It would be awesome with your collection. The base game is already on there and you could build off that.
Btw I’ve checked in on TTS to see that Epic Duels is indeed set up, and they have the EU and 10YA decks included already, the latter of which includes 4 of our decks. What’s also true is that hardly anyone plays SWED on TTS, so I don’t think it’s worth the time to painstakingly add our entire collection to it.
Hi Nuge, thanks for the suggestion. Epic Duels has a long history on Vassal, where our stuff has always been available, but I didn’t realize someone had set this up on TTS, which is obviously way better. I do have TTS so I’ll look into it, not sure when though.

Looks like a cool concept. How do you actually play RIDE OF THE ROHIRRIM? With 4 spaces movement it would be possible to move over one enemy charakter several times. I suppose the charaker moved over would only suffer damage once not several times?
The card says “pick a direction” so that you can’t double back, nor can you make a turn.
This is one of my favorite decks. It just sort of came together well, with some really fun combos. If you prefer Star Wars, many of these ideas are in the Enfys Nest deck.
Interesting article. If either of us were less lazy, we could check the actual stats for % funded, which would lend an objective air to our discussion. 😛
I think that KS is certainly becoming more competitive for the mid-tier projects (those needing 7k-20k).
I don’t know if my first project would fund today. How can I?
Most of the backers were either folk I knew or one step removed. I don’t think that would be very different today – I am lucky enough to have some people in my life that were able to spent £12-20 to support me and get a game they might really like.
I asked for £2.7k and only just funded in the final hours. So it was close enough that I might have failed had things been slightly different.
In the end though, does it really matter? If I was coming onto KS today and failed, I’d have tried a 2nd time I think.
General backers are more likely to want a review but I think that’s a great thing. New creators with amazing ideas (that publishers don’t want, or that the creator wants to retain absolute control of) can still get a review from some folk for free. The games will eventually be made.
The real problem is the amount of material waste. With so many thousands of games being created yearly, I despair at the amount of plastic being created and the amount of fuel used to transport those things, only to end up sitting on a shelf.
Ha you at the very least inspired me to play her again next time. Still think she is way better in 2v2 but it is okay that she is not super strong. That fits her character. My group definately is not as concerned about NPE cards like yours. Sure it blows to eat one of those cards sometimes but thats the name of the game. Everybody knows tha Palpi has this card f.e. and you adjust your game to it. I think we love the challange as long as the deck is not way overpowered or unfair.
Again for DOMINATION to really cause game chanving havoc a lot of chips have to fall the right way.
I will let you know how our next game goes with her.
Thanks for the update. Interesting you don’t like the deck just because of one card that is quite powerful but nothing too special compared to whats around in the ED universe. Especially considering how weak her own cards are. She has 3 attacks with no value and they only serve the purpose of pulling cards.
Even domination is completely useless if you don’t play a 2v2 match or if there is only the major opponent left or if the opponent only has generic minors.
So you can’t cause any damage with A0, DOMINATION may be completely useless, and you are left with 3xA6 and 2xA5 without any special special abilities. ASSASSINATION is quite nice but again no help against other majors and a big waste if facing somebody with generic minors.
For me those are more the reasons the deck never gets played not because of NPE because of one card that isn’t even thatr bad.
I like the deck just fine but my group doesn’t. It’s because they find DOMINATION to be a NPE, not because they necessarily find the deck to be overpowered. They just don’t like seeing Sly take over Mace and make him WHIRLWIND his friends. It’s a personal feeling sort of thing. Some players, like Mike Maloney and his group, find Palpatine’s YOU WILL DIE to be a NPE, but it has never bothered our group.
As for power level, I think Sly looks fairly strong but I haven’t played her enough to know. As you point out, her offense is fairly weak, but if she can use ASSASSINATION to wipe out opposing minors and her A0 to draw out defense, she’s got more than enough with her strong minors contributing to her A6s and A5s.
Despite her 14 HP, she’s also got very good staying power. I increasingly think that characters should not have both power defense and strong minors, but that’s exactly what she has, so she’s tough to bring down. Add in an ability to reshuffle her best cards back into her deck and she looks pretty strong to me.
But don’t take my word for it, play her and let me know how she does!
One of my favorite theme duels to play is this deck with Darth Sidious against Mace (tweaked) and Saesee Tinn so I actually have a good amount of experience with this deck and I agree with what Roman says. Especially on Sly’s (pretty solid) staying power.
I personally have mixed feelings about DOMINATION, mostly because it took me more reads than normal to figure out how it works and just ’cause it’s a bit outside the normal dueling experience.
Yeah, I use both. I actually used to use Sultan’s version until I found this one buried in your Vassal decks before this page existed. I (of course!) personally prefer playing with this one.
Can you re-upload the EU PDF? It is no longer linked (404), and the old eu site no longer maintained (even the internet archive instances do not have the pdf).
I think the worker placement in Anachrony is very clever!
My favourites would be Euphoria and Village. I think both of these have very interesting spins on the mechanic and actually give the workers another dimension – intelligence + morale and age.
Have you played either?
Thanks John, great recommendations! I haven’t played either, though I have seen Euphoria played, love the theme, and want to play it. I’ll keep an eye out for a chance to play Village as well.

Hmm, I was going to include Rising Sun in a post called “Games I Will Never Play Again” but next time we have 5 players and that game around, I’ll give it a try.

So, I don’t know what your VASSAL deck looks like (I’ve never had much success getting it to work), but I think, looking at this deck is that it’s good, unique idea doesn’t crop up enough to be useful. I think you should make him more of a resource denial deck.
Nautolean Insight should be his bread and butter card, a times 3, maybe a times four. Something like:
“A5 The opponent must reveal a card (or maybe 2) at random, this card remains face up and may not be chosen to discard from the effect of a card.”
I’ve been tinkering with a similar design for a Sinestro deck on a DC Epic Duels project, and think this might be what Kit Fisto needs.
So, my thinking is:
3x NAUTOLEAN INSIGHT
A5 The opponent chooses a card two cards at random. These cards stay face up and may not be chosen for discard due to the effects of a card.
3x SHII-CHO STRIKE
A4 The opponent must choose and discard a card.
2x INSIGHTFUL ATTACK
A4 Add 1 to the attack value of this card for each face up card in the opponent’s hand.
2x LOCKDOWN
Until the start of Kit Fisto’s next turn, no player may play face up cards.
1x INCEPTION
Place this card in an opponent’s hand. This card is face up and counts as two cards. The opponent may use an action to discard this card and another card.
1x MEMORY WIPE
Choose an opponent to choose and discard 3 cards.
It’s low on draw power and defense but it’s definitely different from anything I’ve seen on your site. The INCEPTION card is based on a Mike Maloney mechanic for his Palpatine deck and seems to fit this theme really well.
Thanks, some interesting ideas there for a deck that we’ve just never gotten to work. I think you’ve got enough there to do your own Fisto deck, go for it!
As for ours, I’m not sure why but the 3x A7s never seem to be enough offense, and I’ve learned over time that if you’re going to rely upon a combo like NAUTOLEAN INSIGHT-INSIGHTFUL ATTACK, you can’t just have 3 total cards and expect it to come up very frequently. Emperor Palpatine, by contrast, doesn’t RELY upon his YWD-MEDITATION combo. Obviously they combo well, but they’re also great cards on their own, and Fisto’s are not.
Anyways, I don’t know that card-denial fits Fisto very well as a character. He’s more a bad ass duelist than anything BUT if we’re going to go with NAUTOLEAN INSIGHT as is (or your version) then it’s a card denial card of sorts, and the concept should probably be built upon. I’ll consider your ideas for this deck but I think my group would rather take it in another direction entirely, hence I’m suggesting you do your own.
Yeah I might throw it on the Epic Duels forum at some point. Like I said, I’ve been busy working on a DC project. I have something like 50 decks (many are adapted from the Star Wars ones but different enough to be “new”), but I’ve been meaning to get back into the ED forums.
I feel like the effect of Qui-Gon’s Gamble, while useful for moving Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon across the board, is a cool unique effect that’s wasted in this deck. Especially since STANDOFF and JEDI JUMP already make them very mobile already. I think you could build a deck around that whole mechanic (I know both Lando decks use the die in interesting ways.) Just my two cents though.
Yeah the Lando-Han deck is our dice-rolling deck, and one of our guys absolutely hates it for that reason. So, we probably won’t do more of those.
QUI-GON’S GAMBLE was a strange case where the deck was kinda done but we had a remaining slot for a card. It was an attack card for a while but the deck seemed slightly overpowered with it, so we went with this fairly weak (and to your point, redundant) card, which at least emulates Qui-Gon’s actions in the movie.
Here’s a list of other pirate games that people really like:
Rum and bones
Sea of Clouds
Skull Tales: Full Sail
Black Fleet
Jamaica
Dead Men Tell No Tales
Walk the Plank
Pirates Cove
Blood and Plunder
Blackbeard
Tortuga
Cartagena
Dark Seas
The Pirate Republic
Islebound
Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas
Pirates of Nassau
Not likely we’ll come up with a Dryden Vos deck. I’m not even seeing that much interest in Enfys Nest and Tobias Beckett.
If you’re interested in Dryden Vos, why not come up with your own? He definitely duels and could be made into a deck. Go to the Wiki and post some ideas and I’ll help you.
