Saesee Tiin – Geektopia Games

Saesee Tiin

Minor(s): Agen Kolar

Neither of these guys quite warranted their own deck, but together they’re a 2-personality deck and we like those a lot, so this one actually gets a lot of play.

What does this deck do:  Pairs up 2 really fun Jedi, giving each a good amount of ability on his own.  Saesee makes you discard, Agen bashes crowds.

Saesee – 7 Talent Cards

3x CUNNING ATTACK
A4*. *If this is your first action, attack value is 8.

2x CONVICTION
A5, player controlling the target character discards a card.

2x STEALTH
Move Saesee up to 5 spaces, and Saesee may move through enemies.  If Saesee ends his turn adjacent to an enemy, controlling player discards a card at random.

Agen – 5 Talent Cards

2x ATARU FORM
A6*/D6*. *If Agen is adjacent to more than one character, attack and defense values are 3.

2x FORCE WAVE
Agen does 2 damage to each adjacent enemy.  Move each adjacent character up to 2 spaces.

1x AGGRESSIVE NEGOTIATIONS
A9, if target is not destroyed, Agen takes 9 damage, but Agen cannot be reduced to less than 1 hit point.

Theme: A pair of dangerous, yet fragile, Jedi.
Path to Victory: FORCE WAVE + ATARU FORM followed by CUNNING ATTACK + CONVICTION
Strengths: High attacks, good overall staying power
Weaknesses: Neither character has very good individual staying power and can get killed easily
Strategy: Wound with one, finish with the other
Test Level: High
Tier: 2

Inspiration: We like both of these characters, but weren’t excited enough by either of them to give each their own deck. They make an obvious duo for their not-so-shining moment in Episode III.

Playing Saesee & Agen: They are pretty typical of 2-character decks in Geektopia in that they don’t have any game-changing cards but rather wear you down with 2 characters who have both offense and staying power. The trick, as usual, is keeping both alive long enough to get something out of each of them. If Saesee can scrounge together enough defense to survive a full round of counterattacks, he has a pretty nasty arsenal and a little card-denial game to go with it. Agen is a threat in his own right with AGGRESSIVE NEGOTIATIONS, while FORCE WAVE + ATARU FORM give him a few cards to use until he’s ready to gamble.

Playing against Saesee & Agen: Saesee’s best attacks will be his first action so you know they’re coming. Agen is susceptible to getting rushed by multiple characters. Like any other 2-character deck, beating them is best done by isolating one of the characters and concentrating on him until he falls. They’re not easy to rid the board of, so you might be better off going after their partner and enduring their attacks, which are solid but not spectacular.
