A5, discard a card and draw a card.

2x RECKLESS
Move Luke next to any character.  That character takes 2 damage.

2x CONTROLLED FORCE
Luke may not be attacked again until after his next turn. Draw a card.

1x VISION
Search you draw pile for any card, then reshuffle your draw pile.

1x WHAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU
A6*.  Luke reveals his hand and discards all Luke attack cards greater than 1.  For each card Luke discards, attack value of this card increases by 1.

1x FULL OF SURPRISES
D8, Luke does 2 damage to an adjacent enemy.

Why Rebel Pilots? This particular ESB/Bespin Luke does not really have an obvious minor with the possible exception of R2-D2, who is already included in a deck with C-3P0. We originally tried Luke with Bespin Guards but they are not really affiliated with Luke and some found them not much fun to play, and we do use some Lando decks (not ours) that include Bespin Guards. Meanwhile, we like the imagery of Biggs and Porkins and we don’t really have another deck to assign the Rebel Pilots to unless we want to make a separate “Luke Rebel Pilot” deck, which we don’t. The Rebel Pilots may not be minors to ESB Luke but they are obvious minors to Luke.

Theme: Reckless, aggressive and impressive
Path to Victory: RECKLESS + IMPRESSIVE + either CONTROLLED FORCE or WHAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU
Strengths: Can get to enemies anywhere on the board, ranged attacker who can fight melee.
Weaknesses: Fragile, not as good at range as other ranged fighters or as good at melee as other melee fighters.
Strategy: Pelt them with ranged attacks while you build up a flurry of attacks, unleash all at once.
Test Level: Medium
Tier: 3

Playing Bespin Luke: Use your ranged abilities, particularly UNLEARN to annoy your enemies into approaching you.  When they do, you can battle them with multiple IMPRESSIVE and follow with CONTROLLED FORCE to keep them at bay. Luke has a potentially big offensive card in WHAT YOU TAKE WITH YOU — though it must be well-timed — and big defensive card in FULL OF SURPRISES but otherwise isn’t great at offense or defense, so you need to wait until you have one or both to go into melee combat.

Playing against Bespin Luke: Remember that Luke can get to you anywhere on the board with RECKLESS. Luke’s primary weakness is that he’s quite fragile. Even with an Orange Deck and a power defense card, he’s not going to last long against most Jedi/Sith. Luke’s more dangerous when he can build up a big hand, so don’t let him, take him out early.

    Hmmm.

    You know, it occurs to me that the RECKLESS card would pair very well with Leia’s LUKE’S IN TROUBLE.

    I’ve always hated Luke’s original deck, but maybe combining this deck with Leia’s cards could actually make those 2 fun to play. I may tinker around with that, if it’s cool with you guys.

    This deck is extremely aggressive and has a ton of direct damage, plus some healing. In my experience it works as a more fragile version of the Obi-Wan/Anakin deck. I sometimes tinker with giving Luke a Blue Deck to increase his staying power, but with LFA and LIGHTSABER SLASH he works as a glass cannon of sorts. It’s much more fun than the original Luke deck at any rate.

    He doesn’t have a ton of drawing power, so I’ve found that stockpiling and relying on Leia helps early on.
